Anthropic's Claude Cowork AI agent expands to mobile and web

Anthropic is finally bringing its Claude Cowork AI agent to mobile and web, after initially only offering it via desktop app. Beta access rolls out gradually starting with Max subscribers over the coming weeks. This move lets users start a task on their laptop, check progress from their phone, and view completed work in any browser. Claude keeps chugging along even when your device is off or closed. The “human in the loop” feature works on mobile too — Claude pings you when it needs approval, and nothing ships without your OK. More than 90 percent of Cowork usage is non-coding stuff, with business operations and content creation like reconciling spend or drafting client decks making up half of all uses. The desktop app still matters for local file access, browser control, and Computer Use features. On web, Cowork now shares a single home screen with Chat, and boundaries between them are blurring. Anthropic extended doubled usage limits through August 5. Why it matters: This expansion signals a broader industry shift toward merging chat and agentic tools into one seamless product — a trend also seen with OpenAI’s Codex and ChatGPT, and Mistral’s Vibes replacing Le Chat.
