Anthropic is no longer just a chatbot provider. It’s building a workspace. Today, the company launched Claude Docs and Claude Slides in beta, allowing users to generate, edit, and share documents and presentations directly from their chat interface. This isn’t just about spitting out text. You can iterate on drafts, make manual edits, and share a single link with collaborators who can comment in real-time, much like the familiar Google Docs experience. The output lives at one shareable URL, accessible on mobile or desktop, keeping the workflow contained within Anthropic’s ecosystem.

The bigger shift here is structural. Anthropic is merging its separate modes—regular chat, Cowork, and Design—into a single interface called “one Claude.” The AI now automatically detects when a task requires document creation or visual design, pulling in the necessary skills and connectors without forcing you to switch contexts. Artifacts and Claude Design capabilities are now available from any conversation. Pro and Max users will see this rollout over the next few weeks on web, desktop, and mobile, with Team and Free access following later. There is no toggle to flip; the intelligence is just there.

This move directly targets Google’s stronghold. Gemini has deep native integration with Docs, Sheets, and Slides, giving it a home-field advantage in offices already married to Workspace. But Anthropic is betting that superior reasoning and a unified interface can overcome that inertia. By closing the gap between conversational AI and productivity suites, Claude gives users fewer reasons to tab-switch. If you’re already drafting strategy in Claude, why export it to another platform?

The success of this bet hinges on adoption friction. Google’s tools are ubiquitous. Claude’s are new. But if “one Claude” truly removes the cognitive load of choosing the right tool for the job, it could steal significant mindshare from enterprise users tired of juggling multiple AI interfaces. The question isn’t whether Claude can write a slide deck. It’s whether teams will trust it enough to build their final deliverables there.
