Google Unveils Google Home Speaker with Gemini AI

Google has introduced its first smart speaker built specifically for Gemini AI, the company’s chatbot. This new Google Home device allows users to interact with Gemini using natural language requests and makes multistep requests. It also features a ‘Continued Conversation’ mode, where the microphone can stay on briefly to enable follow-up questions without needing to say ‘OK, Google’ again. The device comes with 10 new voices and a ring light that indicates when the speaker is listening, thinking, or responding. Google will sell a premium subscription plan for $10/month to access more advanced features, but some capabilities will be available for free for six months. This move aims to reinvigorate the smart speaker market and showcase Gemini’s capabilities.
