Meta is doubling down on monetization with Meta One, a new subscription ecosystem that bundles expanded AI access across Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. The move follows a staggering spike in daily revenue for its existing Plus tiers, which Appfigures reports jumped 475% for Instagram and 143% for Facebook in early September. With Instagram now pulling in an average of $1.2 million per day, the company sees a clear path to recouping its massive AI investments, including the recent $14.3 billion acquisition of Scale AI.
The consumer-facing plans come in two flavors: Core at $7.99 per month and Premium at $19.99. Both include the standard Plus features like profile customization and super reactions, but the real draw is the expanded usage of Muse AI models. Subscribers can generate more images and videos, use the AI-powered Restyle tool on Instagram Stories, and access enhanced voice effects. It is a direct attempt to turn casual scrollers into paying power users by gating the most advanced generative features behind a paywall.
For businesses and creators, the pricing scales aggressively. Plans range from Essential at $14.99 per month to Max at $499 per month. These tiers unlock critical operational tools, such as the Meta Business Agent for customer responses, impersonation detection, and the ability to schedule stories up to 30 days in advance. Higher tiers also provide exportable analytics, deeper audience insights, and support for multiple team members. Meta promises future additions like Edits Plus, which will offer cloud storage and AI assistance for its video editing app.
While the array of tiers might confuse some users, the financial logic is sound. U.S. users already account for nearly 40% of Facebook’s subscription revenue, significantly above historical baselines. Analysts are bullish on the strategy, with BNP Paribas forecasting $13.5 billion in new revenue by 2028. If Meta can maintain this momentum, it won’t just be selling ads anymore; it will be building a substantial recurring revenue stream powered by artificial intelligence.
