Meta's Muse AI lets you insert Instagram friends into photos

Meta just dropped its first AI image generation model from its elite Superintelligence Labs, called Muse Image. Now live across Meta AI, Instagram, and WhatsApp, it’s rolling out to Facebook and Messenger soon. The killer feature? You can ’@ mention’ any Instagram handle in your prompt, and the AI will pull their public photos to build a visual of them into the generated image. It’s not just a standalone tool—Muse Image works with a companion LLM called Muse Spark to ‘reason through your prompt, search the web, and plan before it generates.’ This replaces Meta’s old Llama lineup for image generation. You can also transform existing pics, redesign rooms using Marketplace photos, or draw directly on images to edit them. 30 new Stories effects powered by Muse are hitting the US first. Why it matters: By integrating real user likenesses and social graph data into AI generation at scale, Meta is pushing the boundaries of personalization while raising fresh questions about consent and content control in the age of synthetic media.
