Meta tests always-on AI glasses that record your day

Meta is testing a new prototype of AI glasses with a feature called “Super Sensing” that constantly records video and audio throughout your day. Instead of manually taking photos, the glasses automatically snap pictures every few seconds and continuously capture audio. Users can later ask an AI assistant to recall anything they saw or heard. This is a big step beyond Meta’s current Ray-Ban smart glasses, which require explicit commands to record. The internal prototype has sparked serious privacy concerns because it would likely turn off the LED indicator that lets bystanders know they’re being filmed. Meta is also considering using the collected data to train its own AI models. The company previewed similar always-listening features at Connect 2025, like “Live AI,” where glasses build context throughout the day to help users with tasks. This builds on years of research through Meta’s “Project Aria” program, which has been collecting first-person data for AI systems. Why it matters: Always-on recording glasses could make digital memory a reality, but they also raise urgent questions about consent and surveillance in public spaces.
