OpenAI and AWS Join Forces in $50B AI Deal

OpenAI and Amazon just announced a massive multi-year strategic partnership, with Amazon investing $50 billion in OpenAI. The collaboration centers on a new Stateful Runtime Environment powered by OpenAI models, available exclusively through Amazon Bedrock. This environment lets AI apps maintain context, remember prior work, and access compute and data seamlessly—like a persistent workspace for your AI agents. AWS becomes the exclusive third-party cloud provider for OpenAI Frontier, an enterprise platform for managing AI agent teams with built-in governance and security. OpenAI will consume 2 gigawatts of AWS Trainium capacity to support these workloads. Amazon also gets customized models for its own consumer apps.
