OpenAI launches new company to help businesses deploy AI

OpenAI just dropped a bombshell: a whole new company dedicated to helping enterprises actually use AI in the real world. Dubbed the OpenAI Deployment Company, this isn’t just another consulting arm — it’s a full-blown effort to embed specialized engineers, called Forward Deployed Engineers, directly into organizations. These FDEs will work alongside business leaders to figure out where AI can really move the needle, redesign workflows, and build lasting systems. To kickstart this, OpenAI is acquiring Tomoro, an AI consulting firm, bringing about 150 experienced deployment specialists on board day one. The company is backed by a who’s who of investors — TPG, Advent, Bain Capital, Brookfield, Goldman Sachs, and more — and has secured over $4 billion in initial funding. It’s majority-owned by OpenAI, so the experience stays unified whether you work with OpenAI directly or through this new deployment arm.
